Founder
and owner of British Weather Services, Jim Dale
was born in Manchester, England in December 1960. Jim
turned a hobby into a career when he served as a meteorologist
in the Fleet Air Arm of the British Royal Navy during
the early to mid 1980's. Following a spell working for
a marine meteorologist firm in London, Jim formed British
Weather Services in June 1987 and has since appeared
extensively on national television, radio and in the

Chief meteorologist
Adrian Crocker has had a life long
interest in all things meteorological and whilst serving
with the Royal Navy he was able to qualify and turn
a hobby and a passion into a vocation. Upon leaving
the Royal Navy Adrian joined the team at British Weather
Services and across the last decade he has worked his
way up through the ranks, culminating in overall responsibility
for UK and European forecast outputs. When not working
(which is rare) Adrian enjoys many of the delights that
his home county of Cornwall has to offer, with surfing
and cliff walking high on his list of interests. |

Chief historical analyst,
Terry Mayes was born in 1947 in the
middle of one of the severest UK winters on record.
This seems to have fuelled Terry’s avid interest
in weather data. He began weather recording in December
1959 and since then has had spells as editor of Climatological
Observers Link and Weather Observers Network. Terry
joined British Weather Services in 1993 and is directly
responsible for the massive BWS database of meteorological
data. |
